You realize that those were PPV fights we were talking about? You misunderstood the difference between buys and viewers. Kovalev had more buys than Stevenson in the fights he listed and thus had more viewers. The viewers were a result of the buys... This is elementary. It's not 1 to 1 buys to viewers because households have more than 1 person on average. This is why Floyd/Maidan II with 975,000 buys ha more viewers than Kovalev's 1.4 mil vs Hopkins... Also elementary.

Check Kovalev's numbers in Eastern Europe.

Yea man but that was the last deal. Kovalev was a free agent after the Pascal fight his exclusivity deal with HBO was over. They made arrangements for a 50/50 split with the winner of the purse bid deciding the network. Then recently Kovalev signs another exclusivity deal with HBO . Killing the fight because they aren't confident of winning the purse bid. Kovalevs team should of waited or stipulated in the deal a one off fight against Stevenson or for HBO to open up it's coffers and bid high for the purse bid. Unfortunately it's true it's on Kovalevs team this time.

 

Yep. I have Kovalev as a heavy, heavy favorite in this fight if it ever happens but you can't really argue that it wasn't his team's fault this time. Maybe bad foresight, maybe bad negotiating. Either way they haven't covered themselves in glory.
