Pretty spot on, except at no point did RJJ have one punch knockout power, even at Middleweight.

He took out Tate, Griffin and Hill with one punch.

The way y'all are talking about Roy, it's almost as if he's never lost a round haha

The way you're talking, the defeats to Andre haven't happened.

I guess, a few, but against Griffin he threw home run shots with no regard to what was coming back, and was full of anger adrenaline. Hill was a body shot, pretty much anybody who throws body shots with good technique and just the right placement and you're going. Tate, just watched that one have to say that was a good one punch KO. But I don't consider him to be the typical one-punch KO artist like a Julian Jackson, etc. Definitely good power, had amongst the best combinations of speed and power ever. And I'd pick him to dominate either Ward or Kovalev BTW.

I would take Jones over both of them. I'll also take Calzaghe over them as well.

Roy would have scored more knockouts had he have been more agressive. He was happy to coast for the most part.

His knockout of Griffin was a thing of beauty. It was a lead uppercut.

Tate had gone the distance with Jackson.

He was the only guy to ever knock out Hill.

He also knocked out lesser names with single shots at MW.

I'd like to believe this, but you have to ask yourself why after such a great start to a career in beating Hops/Toney did he avoid the best available competition for the following 8 years?

Then when he decided to step things back up again after the Ruiz fight he started losing.

Jones could have been a top 10 ATG if he fought and beat the guys available during his reign, but we'll just never know.

i totally understand, thats why i used the word "package" to describe him, he had it all, but he didnt do it all. i was not a fan of roy, his taunting of less gifted fighters rubbed me the wrong way, but if i was breeding fighters, roy would be one of my top studs.

How many times do we have to discuss this?

    When will it sink in?

He didn't avoid the best competition for the following 8 years. It's complete nonsense that has been debunked numerous times.

Who were the best guys who you think were available?

With regards to the showboating he got his comeuppance when Calzaghe clowned on him.

Good post, I have a love/hate relationship with Roy. I've grown less fond over the years the more I think about it.

He 100% avoided Collins, Nunn and Jackson. Those have been proven ducks.

You could also say he avoided the Hopkins rematch as well by not being sensible on terms, but we'll give him the benefit.

    DM
    Liles
    Rochigiani
    Benn
    McClellan
    Eubank
    Calzaghe
    Toney rematch

These are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Considering Jones at the time had the backing of the biggest network, there are simply too many big fights that didn’t happen for them all to be “not Roy’s fault”. Hell, half the guys who I listed were either mandatory to Jones title or Jones was to theirs.
