    Over at Scene.
    All this talk especially from traitorous non-Nationalist who love everything from the (former)Soviet Republic about Kovalev being a beast has dissolved in the eyes of many, as he begs for the same rematch clause that people call Floyd Mayweather a chump for making Pacquiao sign.
    I guess if Ward takes his belts and his soul he wants the chance to get his ass kicked again afterward by The Son of God Andre Ward.
    Ward has a message for Can Crusher Kovalev....
    Let's get that hype started!!!!

    You ignorant fool. Rematch clauses are usually routinely put in place as a precautionary against anomalies i.e injuries, unjust decisions, rather than the fact the fighter believes he will lose

    Kovalev is not a Can Crusher, he's always fought anyone who'll get into the ring with him.

    And rematch clauses are often put in place just in case an injury occurs. Klitschko put one in against Fury even though he was a heavy favourite.

    Exactly. The challenger doesn't need a rematch clause because if he lucks out in such a situation he'd be happy to take the title and run. Also, a champion putting in a rematch clause just formalises the old tradition of a new champion giving the former champion a return match. Just routine.

    Would be far more surprising if there wasn't any.
    This is a voluntary defence, which means that in 90% of all cases the contract has that rematch clause in it. Only cases in which fighters like Floyd offer a shirtload of money to a beltholder but under all kinds of restrictions they are waved.

    His supporters aren't confident either. It's a 50-50 fight well and truly.

    Simple logic.
    If he wants to get his strap back, he needs a rematch.

    This is a big fight, there are a number of reasons both
    would want a rematch clause. No issue with it

    Actually no, it's not

    Vegas sports books have Ward back to a -145 favorite;

    Absolutely Agree, Alex. But the fact that no one should hate or complain about two fighters has never stopped those practices. Despite differing opinions from everyone, this seems very straightforward to me with two great fighters ready to go.
