It's played at multiple times I believe throughout the day. Edit: at least according to my app when I searched at work.
It's a 10 to 12 hours delayed broadcast. Who cares what the numbers are. Most boxing fan already knew the outcome.
Numbers will obviously be bad when fights are not live. I'd be surprised if the fight did even 500k. What I'm more curious about is the numbers it did in Russia.
hm. I'm quite confused HBO Boxing was tweeting, saying fight was live on HBO https://twitter.com/HBOboxing/status/752687681348333568 I'm not in the US so I couldn't see, but I'm looking at HBO's schedule http://www.hbo.com/schedule?zone=west, it wasn't even on at that time? It's apparently on at quarter past 1 in the morning. I'm not sure what's going on, can anyone in the US explain? It also says first run, does that not mean its the first time being shown?
If ward vs kovalev is going to be a PPV fight, it really isn't a smart idea having kovalev doing bad numbers the fight previous
On my app it had various times. I didn't get home until 10pm and I missed a showing, there's another showing at like 12:15am but I'm a miss that one too. I don't know which was the first showing but I know they played it at standard US boxing time.
Then they should not have had the fight in Russia, and they should have promoted it more. I don't have HBO, but many posters here have said that they were not pushing this fight, and I understand why because it was live at like 10am US time on a monday.
Do you have a hard time grasping the concept that this is a meaningless HBO re-run ? The event is over. No one in their right mind other than hardcore boxing fan is going to tune in for a boxing event that the world already knows the results too. Again it's a re-run and in this day and age people have seem hundreds of highlights and rnd by rnd before HBO even showed it. If this was a live showing and it did horrible numbers we can talk. And lets not talk numbers when it comes to Ward. Dude couldn't get people to tune into one of his matches that was on a basic cable channel.
Alright. Also what do you mean ward couldn't get people to tune in? He did 1.064M viewers, kovalev did 1.179M. Not much of a difference
HBO is ****ing up as always. I feel for Kovalev. It must be frustrating as **** being second place to a fraud named GGG.
