Kovalev - Chilemba July 11th

Clever stuff from Krusher. Beats Chilemba and Ward and he'll almost definitely be installed as Chickenson's mandatory too. Solid fight into the bargain.

 

Good fight for Chilemba too - he gets a crack at three world titles, faces the MAN and gets exposure and a nice paycheck... Even if he loses (and he will) no shame really, especially after what Kovalev did to his last opponents...

 

He already was Stevensons mandatory, but that's been gone over 1000 times and I'm not going down that road

 

Just bum warmup for the Ward fight. HBO does not need to televise this.

 

From the available pool, this is a very respectable opponent. Chilemba is as legit a challenge and creditable a name for Kovalev as just about everybody that isn't Ward or Stevenson. On the same general tier as the Beterbievs, Oosthuizens, and Storms.

Vlasov is pretty nasty. Shook Zurdo too and now fighting at cruiserweight. Kovalev throws the best straights in the world so, yeah, Chilemba's head is going into the third row.
