He is now delusional, thinking he can unify the LHW titles. He is done mentally and physically and should take his 12 million and retire to his vodka bottles and upcoming sexual assault lawsuits. Toast. Finished. He only has his excuses to fall back on. He is always 'tired'. WTF is that! He cannot improve his stamina? It's BS.

I'd much rather he retire. (love Krusher, but loathe catchweights)

36 and all the other factors. Too quick after the previous fight. I would still like to see a rematch. a match with an adequate training camp. no clauses. Then retire whether with a win or a loss. Would like to see him ko the gingerbread man and I still think he can do. Give it one more chance.

Its what happens when you get countered by Canelo. Alfredo Angulo turned from a relentless fighter into a timid lamb, Ersilandy Lara went from a master boxer into a marathon runner, Golovkin went from a monster KO machine who attacks the body merciless, to a jabber, Kovalev went from a strong boxer puncher with power in both hands that zeros in on his prey and attacks, to making sure he doesn't open up his priority.

It's hard to go straight into camp after nearly being Ko'd days prior. He had almost 2 months to prepare I'm positive it took at least 3 weeks just for him to fully heal, meaning hands no longer sore, ribs not longer bruised, etc. I'm not sure at what point Mcgirt allowed him to spar given he could easily be buzzed by a solid shot due to the quick turnaround. And finally the rehydration clause to ensure a less than optimal performance. We all were aware that he wasn't going to be properly trained the intrigue was whether his natural size and strength could offset the circumstances.

right on the money. McGirt said before the fight, they were only maintaining fitness and focusing on tactics. The margins are thin in high performance sports, 5% less endurance can be the deciding factor between winning and losing.

I don't think so either. I was made too soon especially after he was hurt in the last fight.

Kovalev is a shell. He can't pull the trigger anymore, his legs are gone & he's afraid to throw power shots.. The guy is done. He's Oscar & Martinez when they were fighting the Pacs & Cottos of the world.. He cashed out. Only reason he beat Yarde was because of the home town adrenaline rush & embarrassment he'd have felt losing that one.. He went through fire to get that win against a novice guy who barely throws anything.. he then came back on an ill judged two month turnaround.. now he's just lost by KO for a third time & he's gunna come back at 37 (which he will by then) & reverse the obvious? That's he's clearly shot.. ok..

You can't say that until you see Kovalev have a proper camp and him fighting without being restricted by rehydration clauses. If he returns to the form that he was in for Yarde then he's still borderline top 5 in the division. I'd comfortably pick him to defeat Canelo under normal circumstances and with a full 10-12 week camp.

Unprepared. If Kovalev took minimal damage and finished Yarde early, then the quick turnaround would make sense. The thing is, Yarde went over 10 rounds and nearly got Kovalev outta there. You don't take another fight less than 2 months after something like that, especially at the age of 36. I still give Canelo props for finishing Kovalev like that, but him and his team knew what they were doing, when they made the match.

Not enough time to prepare? But you took the fight anyway. After 3 ko losses in 2 years, it time to hang em up. It's not good to simply fight for paydays.

He just got 12m. He should take his golden handshake and retire with his health intact. Canelo fans should - perhaps not openly - hope for the same as if he gets beatdowns from hereon out it just furthers the idea that he was totally shot.

I think he was shown to be very faded even if he should of been slightly ahead at the time of the IMO totally legit stoppage which took another controversial set of cards out of the equation but that the top guys in the division hand his ass to him. Here's wishing him a happy retirement for all the entertainment he gave us and hoping he gets his life straight with no more controversies.
