Sergey Kovalev says he will try and drag Andre Ward into a street fight on Saturday night. "My right hand will do the job that I need to do in this fight, I don't really have any plans going into my fights - you never know what will happen. "For me, each fight is like a street fight as just like on the street you never really know what an opponent is going to do. "If I get this win then I might be considered the pound-for-pound number one, but I'm not thinking about it - that is simply a bonus."
I believe him. He will drag Ward to places he never could imagine exist. Ward will come out of the fight a completely different person, not know what the hell has happened to him.
Ward would do very well in a street fight tbh. His in-fighting game is next level. He's the most complete fighter of the last 20 years.
Yep. "My right hand will do the job that I need to do in this fight, I don't really have any plans going into my fights - you never know what will happen." If he thinks the right hand by itself will be enough and he has no gameplan then he'll be in for a rude awaking come Saturday night...
thats the thing with insane power you dont need to have any plans just land and the rest will sort its self out
Kovalev, like just about every other EE fighter, has **** for an inside game. Kovalev needs to keep Ward at the *end* of his punches, particularly the right hand, if he wants to have a prayer of winning this fight. Ward brutalizes him on the inside...
I never put much faith in things fighters say for the most part. Kovalev always prefers a "street fight", but has tactical skills and a good ring IQ to fall back on if he can't succeed in making it his kind of fight.
