You're one of the few on here (in this section) that do breh. If Kovalev wants to make it a 'street fight' with Ward he's in trouble. If he wants to box with Ward, he's in trouble. His best bet will be to constantly jab and feint the right, and then hopefully find Ward in transition and shoot the heavy lead right.
Nobody Ward's faced has ever 'imposed their will' or 'dictated the pace' against Ward. Why do you think Kov will be able to, simply by pumping the jab?
no one has done it kovalev either lol. most of the time, and usually early they feel a thudding jab or right hand and turn into terrified fighters.
Kovalev will be so stupid if he actually does try to fight a "street fight". If he forces it into a fight too much and allows himself to fight on the inside. He'll just give Ward opportunities he doesn't need to give him to counter, time him, and smother him. Kovalev can dominate and hurt Ward with his power only if he keeps him at the end of his punches. I don't think Kovalev will refuse to engage or anything and he will plant and fire when he is at closer range, but I think this is just talk and he'll be fighting a disciplined boxing match. I expect Kovalev's jab to be on display more than any weapon or tactic by either guy. The biggest question of the matchup is whether Ward can take Kovalev's jab away. If he does he can lure him into traps on the inside. If he can't Kovalev will outbox Ward, then could punish him behind it.
LOL. This is *the* dumbest post I have ever read on this forum - and that's saying a lot. Leonard had a game plan going into the Hagler fight. Ali had a game plan going into the Foreman fight. Foreman had a game plan going into the Moorer fight. Hopkins had a game plan going into the Trinidad fight. I could go on for days. It's painfully obvious that YDKSAB...
People say a lot of stupid stuff on here, but damn that one was flagrant. Going into a fight without a gameplan.......lol
Just talk IMO. Kovalev will be better served by taking a more conservative approach, trying to stay in his ideal range, and limiting the openings for Andre so Andre has to be the aggressor. In a perfect scenario for him, he catches Andre early doing this (like he did Hopkins), and keeps him gunshy for the rest of the fight- at which point he can open up more strategically. I think Andre's going to attempt to dictate distance by changing ranges and smothering Kovalev on the inside- if Krusher gets sloppily aggressive, as he's done from time to time, it's going to be too easy for Andre to get there punishment-free. For me, the turning point in the fight is what happens when Andre tries to close the distance. If Kovalev can catch him, that's going to put Andre in a rough spot tactically. If Ward gets inside scot-free, that's his bread and butter.
Anyone calling Kovalev a TOMATO KAN can immediately be dismissed. Review Kovalev's results and the fact he is fighting for the p4p crown.
Anyone who believe that is an irrelevance... in my humble opinion...that is ofcourse way above anything shocktrolll posts lol
I don't know, tell us. How many times? Oh, this isn't a "Andre Ward opponent" we are talking about here either. This is KRUSHER.
