Kovalev is a great fighter but Ward proved tonight that he's better.

Kova is still a top 10 pound for pound fighter in my eyes.

    He's a good six rounder.

I wouldn't really call Kovalev an actual great fighter. Really solid, but he's not great.

I always thought Beterbiev would beat Kovalev. There are plenty of guys coming up that I give a good shot against Kovalev now as well. Kovalev can be hurt and he is mentally weak.

Agreed. I've thought for a while Beterbiev would smash Kovalev. Too strong, too durable, too powerful. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Gvozdyk stop him. Or Bivol a couple fights from now.

Who would you favor between Kovalev and Stevenson now?

Kovalev is very good, not truly "great" but neither are most champs. Interested to see how he comes back. That can go a long way for his legacy. Beat guys like Alvarez, Beterbiev, and Stevenson, then he'll be reestablished.

To me that's the same as always, whoever would land first. I lean towards Kovalev because I think he is a better boxer than Stevenson, so he would give himself more chances to land the big one. If Stevenson lands then Kovalev is going to sleep. However I wouldn't be surprised if Kovalev is a ruined fighter now, Ward really got into his head and broke him down.

I believe he had the potential to be great and still does. In hindsight, the result of the first fight has really screwed up his career financially and professionally.

I'm not entirely sure how a Kovalev-Beterbiev fight would play out but I'm confident Kovalev beats the rest of the guys you named.

I'm kind of banking on the fact that Kovalev will be a faded fighter mentally after Ward gave him the business. Not sure if he has what it takes to overcome getting a taste of his own medicine. Hope I'm wrong, because I love watching him knock people out.
