I will make you a Lifetime bet that if Kovalev fights Stevenson that Kovalev beats the ever loving **** out of Stevenson. You wanna talk paper? WHO HAS STEVENSON BEAT?! His biggest victory is against CHAD DAWSON. This coming from a Canadian: **** Stevenson
Another dumbass thread. Look, I think Kovalev is beatable for sure... but the OP mentions Adonis ffs!! I mean, it's like the OP hasn't followed boxing in the last year. Kovalev not only called him out, he called him a "**** of sh*t" and all Adonis did was run under Al Haymons skirt. This is a FACT. Say that Kovalev is overrated, but damn, don't mention Adonis if you are calling Kovalev a paper champion. Just dumb.
You follow the politics of boxing too much. I actually use the eye test. Kovalev is a good fighter I give him credit for beating Hopkins, but Hopkins was 49 years old. COme on, Stevenson has the ability to beat this Russian cat, and you know it.
It maybe arguable that Kovalev isn't #1 at LHW but he is certainly no paper champ. Kovalev and Stevenson have a similar level resume with Stevenson holding maybe the best single win but Kovalev has 3/4 Titles at LHW which has to be respected. If Adonis WBC Belt was swapped with Sergys WBO belt I'd consider Kovalev the Undisputed LHW Champ regardless of the Dawson win WBC, WBA, IBF> WBO.
Looks like I have to remind people ONCE AGAIN, that the lineal champion is not necessarily the best fighter in the division.
I thought youtube comment sections was the worst place in the world to talk boxing. Then I found this place.
Yes technically Erdei was lineal champ, he then lost it to Grachev, who lost it to Edwin Rodriguez, so the lineal light heavyweight champion is Andre Ward! :happy If Kovalev is only a paper champion, Stevenson is a tissue paper champion. He's not even lineal as he didn't beat the man that beat the man. He signed to fight Kovalev then **** himself, used his tissue paper title to wipe his runny ass and ran to the safe arms of Showtime where he didn't need to fight the big scary Kovalev.
I would also like to remind people that paper champion means a fighter won a belt when he didn't deserve it, either by being given one by an organization, or winning the title in a gift decision.
