People tend overate big punchers, but with Kovalev the opposite is happening. People constantly bang on about his power and ignore that he's also a very efficient, accurate and skilled boxer. Watch the Cleverly fight, it's pretty clear that even if Kovalev was feather fisted he would have just totally out boxed Cleverly for the whole 12 rounds.

He could be but I would give the edge to superman right now. Also, even though Bhop has lost a step or two Kov is the type of fighter that is made for him.

My only wish is that both fighters(superman and Kov) keep winning and we see a super-fight between the two by late 2014. This is one of the best potential match ups in boxing right noe

Kovalev isn't sharp, flashy, particularly quick... what he does well are those things that don't catch the eye. I think the better analysts know what they're seeing when they watch Kovalev and can appreciate what the combination of the subtle things he does right, with that tremendous power, means in boxing terms.

The questions he hasn't answered are whther he can take a big shot from someone like stevenson, or more to the point, what happens when/if he does, and how does he cope with someone like b-hop for example, in regards to how he deals with his own work being disrutped/nullfied, how would he adjust to and deal with different situations, such as a purely tactical fight.

When two fellas like him and Stevenson burst onto the scene and blow up like they have done, something's got to be exposed. Personally I think if the two meet, either Kovalev gets dropped by a bomb, or Stevenson crumples under Kovalev's weight of attack.

  4. Using their mutual opponent Darnelle Boone, and their respective knockout ratios as points of reference, I'd say there is more proof that Kovalev is the harder one punch puncher than Stevenson.

Let us not get our better judgment clouded by the fact he knocked Dawson down (not out, he beat the count). Dawson, by many people's opinion was
a shot fighter by the time Stevenson got to him, and had suffered a knockout
loss to the light hitting Super Middle Weight Andre ward.
