Ward is FAR from feather-fisted. In fact, he hits damned hard. I've been saying this for years, but the Boxrec gurus just laugh. KO percentage has nothing to do with it. Ward simply doesn't go for the kill that often, he typically fights very safe, content to get a decision. However, when he gets in the mood, as with Dawson, he has plenty of pop on tap. I believe he has enough power to keep Kovalev from just manhandling him, and he certainly has the skills to then win a decision. Cloud-Campillo-Kovalev is not a valid comparison. It's a classic case of "Styles make fights." However, I do think that Kovalev will take out Cloud, simply because Kovalev makes no mistakes, while Cloud occasionally does. With two strong, aggressive punchers, the first to blink is the first to fall, and it won't be Sergey.
Agree with this about Wards power, he would have more KO's if he cherry picked bums, it's not easy to KO guys like Kessler, Froch, Abraham, Bika...
All the top guys at LHW are spoken for at the moment and even after they resolve their upcoming bouts, I highly doubt either one will be jumping into a fight with kovalev.
What interesting is that Sergey doesn't think he has such a big punch. He says it's his timing that allows him to score knockouts.
