Kovalev is too dependent on the straight right hand

    Great jab and uses it to set up everything he does but then everything else is predicated off of that right hand. He didn't hook off the jab once tonight. Good body work for the most part even though I'd like to see left hooks to the body but I don't think JDJ is teaching him anything new. I think Kovalev is coasting. And that's not a recipe for success in the long run. I think he needs a new trainer to teach him a new wrinkle or two.

    He doesn't need to rely on anything else

    he showed his jab tonight...that's the punch Ward is worried about...not lead left hook and right hands.

    Meanwhile Stevenson can't sleep at night thinking about them right hands

    He threw some left hooks and nice uppercuts. The 1-2 is his bread and butter at the moment. It's refreshing to see a tall man fight tall effectively and rely on the fundamentals.

    :D Classic boxing style...

    Kovalev has both a straight SOLID jab and a straight right to the head.

    Good ring generalship.... cutting off the ring and setting up his "shots" with no "Wild Punches".

    A left hook to the body would be a nice addition to Kovalev's "tool box" and who's to say he doesn't have that ability if needed?

    they bring it upon themselves by ducking. stevenson is one of the top five duckers active today, and ward has shown little will to fight anyone in four years.

    He's not a coward as in he's afraid to get hit or something. Clearly, he's not. But he's definitely a coward as in he's afraid of losing to Kov. He doesn't like his chances vs Kovalev, no doubt.

    I disagree I thought his jab to the body was extremely effective

    He also ripped Pascal repeatedly with hooks to the body with both hands

    I thought he showed extreme poise and just controlled every aspect of range with his feet and dominated the pace

    Kovalev knocked Pascal down with his jab tonight!!! It was a clean knockdown....................they showed the replay......................Kovalev has a fantastic right hand, left hook, jab, uppercut, good defense, good chin, etc., he has everything and his stamina is very underrated as well................
