Kovalev just stared Hopkins down, Hopkins nervous and intimidated

Why all the reverance and hyperbole over such a sorted, vile character such as Hopkins? A man who has made openly racist statements and has a history of dirty fighting and faking injuries to get out of tough situations.

Odd how the man has no issues assaulting others motives but he will drag you into court over the slightest issue that reflect negatively on him.

Weird how one of the worst human beings in the sport gets a free pass and a license to create turmoil in a sport that has been so good to him.

If you will excuse, I have to go start another topic on how Pacquaio and the Klitschko's are ruining the sport.

All respect to Hopkins for what he has done in his career, amazing; even more credit for taking this fight. I am quite shocked he is actually going to fight Kovalev at his age. I think Kovalev is going to hurt Hopkins in this fight and can't see Hopkins making it the full 12. If Hopkins pull this one off though it will be an astonishing achievement.

 

Kovalev never broke his stare. B-Hop flinched first with his nervous little taunt at the end (for what it's worth) Stare downs are over rated IMO. As far as the fight goes, Father time finally catches up with B-Hop. There's no escaping it. Kovalev by early KO.

 

hopkins didn't look nervous to me at all. he was kind of leading the scene.

Hopkins in his early career was incredibly overated. His last couple of fights including his championship winning efforts (esp. Pascal) have pretty much cemented him as a top caliber fighter and a fine legacy he will leave behind. 50yr old Hopkins is the only Lt heavyweight Champion brave enough to face Kovalev in a unification bout and that alone speaks volumes about the man. Win, lose or draw, even with the possibility of an embarassing ko loss to tarnish his reputaion, he has earned my respect.:thumbsup

 

Actually, Kovalev continued his trance like stare even after Hopkins had moved from his line of sight. I think Hopkins saw something and his movement reflected this.
