Too early for Beterbiev, not Gvozdyk? The former is probably a mismatch if we're being honest and most people realize that deep-down. Gvozdyk can build up his star for a while to make that a big event of a showdown.

Bob Arum has just tweeted that it could be Gvozdyk. It's obviously up to Gvozdyk himself now. Whether he wants it at this point or not, whether he feels ready or not.
On the one hand, I'm not sure it'd be the right move for him, but from the other hand what's the point of moving up the boxing associations' rankings if you're not prepared to fight the best?

Kathy Duva says she's giving Barrera the choice of Kovalev or Bivol. With those three Main Events guys I doubt Gvozdyk will be able to butt to the top of the queue. Gvozdyk likely only has a chance at Kovalev if Barrera chooses Bivol. If I were Barrera I'd go for Kovalev. Of course he's more dangerous, but Kovalev is the known quantity, with apparent weaknesses, as difficult as they are to exploit, while Bivol hasn't fully proven himself, is low reward high risk. Barrera over Bivol makes sense for Kovalev even more so, so hope we get that next, though we really can't complain about any fight between those four and Beterbiev.

But Gvozdyk is the mandatory challenger...
Yes, I know how little it means nowadays in modern boxing. :)

Kovalev only just won the title, he can't be due for a mandatory defence in three months. Barrera's Bivol's mandatory too, but he's allowed the choice of Kovalev. With Main Events having to go through negotiations with TR
a Kovalev-Gvozdyk is very unlikely next.

Yes, I agree. Barrera had a fight with Kovalev, but turned it down, he has now refused to fight Kovalev two times now. He is mandatory for Bivol, but would make much more money by fighting Kovalev....................I think Kovalev is much more dangerous than Bivol, but both would knock Barrera out.....................we will see................I think Barrera is afraid of Kovalev..................Kovalev has never lost a fight, he was cheated two times, but did not lose legit as we all know and was proven....................

I heard Beterbiev can't fight until his promotional problems are sorted out.

I heard January is set for the court date.

He could be ok for a fight in March but Duva said she won't make a fight with him if he is with Yvon Michel or Top Rank.
