Not really, because not only Kovalev would loose money on the Yarde fight, he would have to pay millions to Yarde as a step aside money. After all the deductions he won't get much more from the Canelo fight then fron Yarde fight.

How many millions would he have to pay for breaking the contract? Its already signed and just 3 weeks away. Yarde would want milllions. The venue, vendors, etc.. would all want their cut. 8 figures sounds good until you factor in the cost before he gets a cut. I'd be shock if Yarde doesn't demand close to the 8 figure to break the contract.

This could have been done a month ago if they would have just offered the 8 figures then. instead waited till three weeks out from an already agreed upon fight.

Don’t think anyone could use money as an excuse to avoid Canelo?

The problem is that some people on this site do not understand how business works, how contracts work and think that Kovalev can just cancel Yarde fight that is happening in a couple of weeks with no consequences.

Even TV stations would sue him for everything he got if he walks, but that too much to comprehend for simple folk.

I'm not necessarily knocking Kovalev for rejecting the offer. It just seems a bit odd to reject 10+ million dollars to fight the cash cow of boxing, who btw is smaller, shorter than Kovalev, and who has never fought above 168.

It was also odd that Kovalev accepted a 0 purse gurantee against Ward, but to each their own, if Kova is happy with the team negotiating for him, can't knock him for that.

As far as MANY MILLIONS, how many MILLIONS is that? I don't even think Yarde is taking 1 million home.

ISAL struggles with logic. When it applies to anything Canelo related at least.

I rarely respond to your post cause clearly Canelo is always right and he can do no wrong in your eyes. You are so blinded by your nuthugging of Canelo, all you see is 10+ million. You ****ing can't see it objectively from the other boxer's side.

Kovalev and Yarde has a signed contract. Kovalev can't just break that contract cause someone else offered more money. The venue holding the fight will also want a cut cause they have vendors, food, staff and probably hotels close by scheduled for event. How much will it cost? No idea but Yarde can demand a hefty price. It would more than likely go to court so Kovalev himself wouldn't know what it would cost him. With just three weeks away, screw the headache and go with the fight.

That is what sane boxing fan sees. Nuthugger only see "duck" , "dumb to not sign his highest payday"

And if it goes to court Yarde has a valid argument on potential future earning. If Kovalev loses he just lost a belt and tons of money on future earning. He beats Kovalev he has a belt for bargaining power and he can argue he could also be a potential future opponent of Canelo. It all hinges on his opportunity of facing Kovalev. That will be factored into the step aside money.

It isn't as simple as here is some money go away.

That's why I said I'm not knocking on Kovalev. I get that he wants to his fans in Russia and maybe Yarde, all I'm saying is 10 mil is a great offer, even if he had to pay Yarde 1 or 2 mil, and 10 mil is the minimum.
