lol, why would Yarde step aside for 1 or 2 millions? Don't know where you are pulling that number from. If Kovalev loses the fight he just lost tons of future earning. It ain't going to be 1 to 2 millions. If Kovalev did take the Canelo offer this would have gone to court with Yarde demanding a ton and has a case for it. He is unbeaten, 50/50 favor to win the fight, and with the belt comes higher earning.

Yarde has a very good chance of the upset. Hence the panic and more money thrown Kovalev's way for the Canelo fight.

The fact that Yarde has likely never even made 250K in his life.

    NO DEAL
Anthony Yarde reveals he turned down ‘life-changing’ money from Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in order to fight Sergey Kovalev

“I got offered step aside money. First of all, it was under what I’m getting to fight Kovalev and I laughed at it. Then they offered me the same amount that I’m getting for the fight and I laughed it again,”

Whats funny is the guy wants a title. the same crap you keep spewing about Canelo not to concerned with money. When other boxers do the exact same thing. What do we see from you. Dumb not to take the money Its a clear duck cause the money was so high.

I haven't said it was a duck. I said that Kovalev turned down 10 million possibly more, and that he may never see that kind of money again, especially if he loses.

For all fighters its about money, but for a few its about creating a legacy too, like Canelo, and from that quote it looks like Yarde also wants legacy which I respect a lot.

All fighters want to paid. And in this case thats all you have been saying is that Kovalev was dumb to turn it down. That he needs to fire his management team. Even when people produce valid reason why he didn't want to go through with it , 3 weeks prior to a accepted fight, you just keep up with your agenda.

I clearly said I'm not knocking Kovalev for not taking the fight.

But at least we know now that Kovalev wasn't going to need to pay Yarde "many millions of dollars" as you or someone else claimed, GBP was going to pick that tab up according to Yarde himself.

I'm sure it was a hard decision for Kovalev to make considering the time frame he had. Does he accept 10+ million dollars, probably keeps half after paying off the Russian network and venue, but has a chance to become an international star by beating the face of boxing, or does he keep his title, remains champion, fulfills his mandatory and possibly still has a chance at fighting Canelo later on, which it seems like a fine idea as well, but not guaranteed.

I actually respect Kovalev a lot more than Golovkin if this is the case.

I'm surprised none of you have seen another reason both Kovalev & Yarde turned down Oscars offers. No One in their right mind wants to fight Clenelo in Vegas. They've seen GGG get blatantly robbed TWICE!! Clenelo only has to last 12 rounds to"win" The $$$$$ would need to be phenomenal for me to think about fighting there. Canelo can fight GGG anytime all he has to do is fight anywhere but Vegas in a 100% bona fide on the level fight
Trouble is they havent got the balls to do it

Yarde doesn't have a good chance at the upset. There is nothing to suggest that so far in his career and he is most likely in for a schooling, beating and/or KO loss. I personally think he should have taken the step-aside money and continued to develop as a fighter. He isn't ready for this level of opponent IMO.

Honestly, I think some of the guys Kovelev has faced like Shabranskyy and Mikhalkin were tougher fights than Yarde and Kova killed those guys. Yarde has a high KO percentage but he's never stopped a world class opponent, unlike Kovalev. So his power might be a mirage which means he doesn't really even have a punchers chance.
