He was talking about the final moments after he was caught with the punch. I.e he was not hurt to the point of not being able to continue. You will notice before Ward delivered those final low blows, Kovalev fired a combination back at Ward which were his last punches before Weeks put an end to the fight There are fools on here saying he was not throwing anything back and that Kovalev was done. Video evidence proves otherwise.
There were not a series of "final low blows" from Ward as in plural. The first two appeared to hit the body, the last one was slightly low largely because Kovalev was hunched over like a rag doll in excruciating pain and agony from perfectly legal blows.
No he wasn't the only difference being Ward was knocked down while still fresh and avoided the following onslaught, Kovalev on the other hand was beginning to gas. Both where great shots, Ward's actually better imo.
He was able to remain standing because he didn't lose his balance enough to fall over. Losing one's balance is differnet from being hurt. We've seen plenty of fighters get stopped on their feet from accumulation of punching. You could have a flash knockdown which wouldn't cause a fighter to be as hurt as it would from a brutal body shot. Also when Kov was rocked badly with 1:45 left in the 8th round from those two body shots from Ward, Ward stopped punching, looked at Weeks which gave Kovalev time to recover. Had Ward not been such a gentlemen he may have knocked him down by staying on Kovalev. Instead Kovalev acted hurt hoping to get 5 minutes so it caused Ward to stop punching momentarily.
LOL oh it's going to get much worse it's only been 2 days and people are already claiming Kovalev was dominated....wrecked.....just think what it'll be like by the end of the week.
