I think it's easy to forget that not all fighters age the same. A 35 year old fighter with a dozen title fights and out of the ring mileage on him can do everything right in preparation and still not be the guy he was 3-5 years ago.

 

It's not his age. Kovalev got lazy between the two Ward fights, plain and simple. He decided he didn't have to do endurance training anymore.

Agreed, I actually have massive respect for the guy. Hope he comes across someone like Kova (as far as talent) in the future.

He's probably having a little schadenfreude moment though, they split up and on bad terms, Kovalev gets folded. Must feel good for him lol.

He was flirting with the idea of joining up with Ward's camp, even giving them intel on SK's strengths and weaknesses whilst preparing for their fight.

How could you stick with a guy who openly admitted thinking about colluding with your opponents camp?
Kovalev may not be the nicest guy in the world but I thought Ward/Hunter and JDJ showed what true pieces of **** they really are with this move.

 

Hunter only ruins fighters not named Ward.

Ward would have been world champion with or without Hunter.

I cannot recall a single fighter who's gone to Hunter and progressed.
