Sillakh got caught by a lucky while dominating the fight. He got careless à la Pacquaoi!

Sillakh is no bum, he is a top 15 in that weight class.

sillakh is quicker and a better boxer boxer than kovalev...ud sillakh.

hopefully sillakh knows how to clinch by now if he gets "floored."

Screw it, yeah I'll go with a hunch and say Sillakh wins. :conf

It seems like quite a few underdogs have been winning this year. Maybe we are overrating some of these favorites?

It's an unfortunate match up for Kov. Sillakh is probably a decent match for someone like Bellew. Kovalev should win fairly handily, but will get next to no credit for the victory, despite the fact that Ismayl could easily be top 10-15 if he had a decent promoter behind him.

Still, I won't mind at all if it leads towards a Stevenson - Kovalev match up.

Good post. Sillakh IS a top 10 LHW.....and outside of that momentary lapse in reason, he has been a masterful boxer/puncher in every other fight, including that fight, except that 15 seconds of shame.:think

Still, outside a few hardcore fans, most believe Sillahk is a glass jawed hypejob. When in reality, he's far from a hypejob at all, and was barely garnering attention when he was derailed by Grachev. Kovalev will get ZERO credit for this win. Hopefully in time, a young Sillahk will make a true move and lend credibility to KOvalevs' excellent resume.:good

Not quite a bum in all honesty, pretty naturally talented kid, but Sillakh is a lesser product than initially advertised during his early breakthrough (like Proksa) and is grist to Kovalev's mill, just more KO fodder.

ya, i would have to agree...but what i was saying is sillakh will look like a bum in there with kovalev....

i guess what im trying to say is sillakh vs kovalev will look alot like stevenson vs bellew....2 top fighters fighting b+ - A- fighters that are bound to be ko...

theres also talks of after this fight for kovalev to be fighting a few more times in quebec against other quebec 175 lbers before the stevenson fight....i guess time will tell how this goes and what path these fighters take

I rate Sillakh's boxing skills pretty highly. He could well prove to be a handfull for Kovalev while it lasts. Gotta wonder though if his punch resistance will stand up to Kovalev's bombs. I suspect not, but a pretty interesting fight none the less.

Its a stay busy fight for Kovalev against a decent boxer. Probably Kov will stop him at some point of the fight.

After this fight I hope Kovalev will unify the titles with Stevenson.

Anyone know if the under's been announced yet BTW? I'm hoping to see Beterbiev back in action, GYM seems to be moving him pretty fast and he's been on the last 2 Stevenson cards.

Canada's not a bad place to campaign at 175 what with the GYM stable and Bute, there's enough talent for some good match-ups, throw in Fonfara in Chicago and you've got the makings of a decent kinda tourney.

Sillakh is better than Bellew, he just made a mistake and he had to pay.
