Stevenson probably knew by doing this the kovalev fight was a no scared of getting taste of his won medicine
Stevenson backed out of already arranged deals... Stevenson will not fight Kovalev on SHO or anywhere else. Doubt he is going to get paid more either. He simply did not want to get Krushed.
Who the hell can Kovalev fight now? His options seem pretty limited. Only the Jean Pascal fight is of any value and Andre Ward will never move up to Light Heavy so he's pretty fecked now.
HBO is partly to blame as they didn't get Stevenson signed to a two fight deal in January after he beat Bellew.
Not too surprising. Adonis always seemed more interested in going after Hopkins than anybody else. Now he'll get his chance. It sucks having the light-heavyweight division fragmented like this. It's not a particularly deep division, so this makes it even harder to have any meaningful fights there. It also further limits Ward's options. If Ward moves to 175 and beats Kovalev, what's he do next? It now makes more sense for him to sit at 168 and wait for GGG. *edit - interesting that it's on a fight to fight basis, if what Terminator_X is saying is true. That can actually work in everybody's favour, because it would allow Stevenson, and maybe even Kovalev, to cross the aisle back and forth to fight Shumenov and Hopkins.
I thought Showtime had a deal only to headline Goldenboy fighters? maybe it's true that they're more in bed with Al Hayon then they are with GB. Oscar needs to start getting wise and cutting ties with Al Haymon before he has no fighters left.
