I think so. Didn't Clazaghe who was no puncher hurt Hopkins with a body shot? Kovalev hits 3x as hard and targets the body with straight shots and hooks. We'll see if Hopkins can take them. While its not always the case, those slim waisted and tall fighters often can't take body shots.
im not exaggerating when i say that kovalev destroys hopkins, im so impressed by kovalev's power that if he does land and he will, it will be over quickly. and thats not saying hopkins hasnt got an iron jaw either, but and that power is something else.
I'm picking The Krusher to win by hitting Hopkins anywhere he can and breaking his will. I hope to god there is no foul play in this fight. Seen enough of that crap from Hopkins in the past.
Krusha's fists go anywhere near the midsection of Hopkin and down he goes, grabbing balls, and stays down
Hopkins will be out cold and people are going to blame the commission when he ends up in some coma. You can't let a 50 year old man take heavy shots that kovalev will bring
He featured straight rights to the body vs Agnew and Caparello not hooks I think the straight path to the body will get there quick and be hard for BHop to deal with
I said the same thing right after the fight was made. Shumenov and Murat both had success to the body occasionally in the first 2 or 3 rounds of their fights.
I thought Sergey wasted a lot of energy on Agnew in breaking his high guard then later went to the body and finished him off. With Caparello he went to the body right away and the fight ended much sooner. He's a devastating puncher, if Kovalev goes to the body early Hopkins is in trouble.
I said it before but ill say it again, it will be a right cross to the body that puts hopkins in trouble, and then Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev will finish with a left hook on the temple and a straight right to the jaw area, and that will be all she wrote.
Hopkins plans on cheating like he did against Dawson. Hopkins' personal referee, judges, boxing commission will be there to protect him. Hopkins will try to get a disq. like he did against Dawson...................
I wouldn't be surprised if Kovalev looks to go to the body early - it's a bigger and less elusive target than Hopkins head and Kovalev has seen it work enough times now, specially that lunging straight right. Will he be able to land it with the success he's had in previous fights? I guess we've still gotta wait another few days to find out.
