Who takes this one? Double M at 175, although drained and had difficulty making that weight, was a NASTY dude in that division. Speed, power, southpaw etc. We all know Sergey is among the baddest to fight at that weight too. I can see this starting out cautiously for the first couple of rounds as the two would be respecting the others power and trying to adjust to the different styles... then by 3 all hell breaks loose. I do think Sergey is more durable and would be standing when the dust settles. Probably ends it around the 5th. Discuss
Great matchup! People forget how good Moorer was at 175. Shame he had to move on up. He won all his fights by stoppage and had 9 or 10 title fights. Left the division unbeaten. His competition let him down a bit though. He'd give Kov some problems. I still go with Kov though. More proven against better fighters. Tough one though.
No doubt. A Moorer at 175 with Steward in his corner... man that was a dangerous dude! I can see it breaking into a shootout but Kovalev is a bit more durable and has that mean streak that doesn't end. He would be standing when the dust settles I think. But Double M was a killer
Ima ride with The Krusher in this one. I can see Kovalev hittin the canvas at some point during this fight too. Moorer can crack and had impressive speed as well.. But when its all said and done, I think Kovalev will get the best of him. Kovalev is truly Great and continues to demonstrate his greatness with each fight.
I thought about this matchup the other day, I also threw in a 200lbs Toney and Jirov vs SK at Cruiser. Moorer at 175lbs was like many said more wishful thinking if he could have stayed at that weight....its a toss up with me leaning towards SK because of his foundation at the weight. What about Spinx?
Yeah many don't realize how DANGEROUS Double M was at 175. I mean he was in the top 10 punchers of the 90's at HW imo. But at 175 he could put guy to sleep QUICK. I lean towards Sergey because of his good chin and that mean streak of his. You can see it when stuff kicks off, like in his fights with Pascal. When the going gets tuff and a firefight breaks out.. it seems to bring out the best in Kovalev. Spinks was also a VERY sharp 175er. That one I lean toward SK as well.
