Prime for prime Kovalev would have destroyed Jack. Both are past prime and CW is above their optimum weights, but Jack isn't shot whereas Kovalev is. I'd tentatively pick Jack via come from behind KO in the 2nd half of the fight.
Groves said Jack is an all-rounder. Does everything solid/good. And was huge (at 168), meaning he is probably bigger than Kovalev, who was not a big 175 fighter, only 6ft and lanky, just bad discipline with his weight probably. That's probably a bad opponent for Kovalev now he has been coached to not to throw his RH and jab fight for points. Does seem like Jack would just keep coming and wear him down if Kovalev fights like that. Wouldn't be confident of Kovalev winning these days. In the past, sure, he was fast and deadly and would likely land and KO Jack eventually I think. He'd have to go back to throwing the vicious RH to have a chance now I'd say.
Why would it be a catchweight? Isn't Kovalev a CW now anyway? I think Badou has a bit more left than Kovalev and would stop him.
Would be a very good fight at this point in their careers. Jack wouldn't stand a chance in their primes but he seemed to have aged better.
People overreacting to Jacks W last night. Makabu got a super lucky decision against Mchunu who is good but not great. Beating Makabu isn't anything special in 2023. Kovalev beats Jack by UD.
