Kova would of beaten him if he was 100%. He had too many tools in his arsenal to not come out on top. He can hit hard and he can box and move. Look at how they both did vs Ward, Kova did better. Plus Froch was never a very big super middle he never struggled at the weight and so throw in the weight difference and then I'd favour Kova. But Froch has a punchers chance, if Ward can hurt Kova, Froch can. But I don't think Kova would get drawn into the kind of fight where Froch lands such a shot.
which version of froch and which version of Kovalev does he mean now? Prime Froch beats current Kovalev easily. but prime Kovalev beats Prime Froch even easier.
Froch is jealous, he also fEels Canelo is overated, Froch was beaten by the best fighter he fought. Froch also stated once that his resume was better than Nigel Benn`s which may be true but it follows a pattern of him competing with popular highly lauded fighters, his commentary during the recent Canelo fight was completely biased.
Kov is coming off a great win and Froch was dropped by a super middle so how the hell was he going to take Kov`s punches who is a better finisher than Groves was, Kov was far better v Ward than Froch was.
Man, Forch has literally no tools. None. He has nothing. I mean nothing. I know Froch is very well rated by all of you here in the forum. But I just dont know why, I see him, and I see a caveman with literally no resources but his facial defence and his "club" to hit, nothing else. Yes he won to bute in wembley in front of 80 thousand people, I know, I know.. but... I watch him fighting, and I just think like that, I cannot think otherwise, that's what I see.
His commentary during the canelo fight was clueless just like it is on all sky sports fight nights. Has openly admitted he does not follow boxing but he is stealing a pay cheque, comes across as such a casual sometimes calling Spence 'Spencer' and Andy Ruiz 'john Ruiz'. Bitter man hates ward because he schooled him and groves because he outwitted him in froch groves 2 buildup. Froch you are 41 mate grow up
I never rated him early on for the exact reasons you listed, horrible technique, no defence, slow, literally nothing about him that stood out. But I changed my mind about him after the first Kessler fight, a fight where I predicted he'd get KO'ed inside 7 rounds. Froch showed up tired due to travel issues caused by that Icelandic volcano erupting at the time grounding flights and he still took Kessler to the brink. Kessler was probably better in every department but he still barely beat a sub par Froch. Froch is a caveman in comparison to many fighters, but there's no denying he is greater than the sum of his parts. He has a good jab, great chin and powers of recovery and has that intangible quality that sees him beat opponents he shouldn't on sheer force of will. His record speaks for itself, World amateur silver medalist, wins over Groves, Abraham, Pascal, Kessler, Bute etc. So despite his obvious flaws he clearly is far better than he looks. But having said that no way he beats Kovalev. Just look at their performances vs Pascal
Froch is very mentally tough like ward and wouldnt be bullied or intimidated by kovalev. If kovalev doesn't hurt froch early and with his suspect stamina he would be in a world of hurt against a warrior like froch.
Froch would get battered by Kovalev at 175. Froch would have had an excellent chance against GGG at 168, however.
