very tough, strong, great headmovement, workrate and stamina. good counterpuncher. i cant say im an expert on qawi but i have seen him fight and a very determined and dangerous opponent for anyone at 175. vs Brutal power, great finishing abilities, consistent powerful jab, good combo puncher. sergey kovalev one of the best fighters today.
Qawi is the more proven fighter against better quality opposition for me to pick kovalev maybe in a couple of years it may be different . I'm thinking this at 175 lbs
:amen, Qawi all the way he has proven himself against better fighters, in 2 or 3 years if Kovalev is still rolling strong, i might be inclined to pick him BUT FOR NOW, it's Qawi..
Qawi eats him alive....this becomes a brutal beat down. I'll take Qawi in between 6 and 8 same as Saad but because of the styles I have Qawi brutalizing him more while Saad knocks him clean out.
personally, i think kovalev may be all wrong for qawi. qawi could only fight one way…….Forward. not a good idea vs kovalev. kovalev by ko.
Qawi would make Kovalev miss all day.... Then he would make him pay. Qawi by knockout in 6-8 rounds. Kovalev would not be able to handle the physicality of Dwight Qawi.
Nothing could be further from the truth! Qawi keeps getting painted as a come forward pressure fighter, when in reality he was more of a multi faceted skilled boxer counter puncher. Kovalev with his jab and right, with literally no body work and a seldom used left hook. He jabs with his left and that is about it. His stamina issues will leave him getting stopped over the championship rounds of 13-15. I think he was solid though and last 12 with them. Ring competitive for the first half and Qawi taking over the 2nd half. Perhaps an 8-4 or 9-3 type decision
