Check out Kovalev's amatuer pedigree then come back to us :smooch No one's saing he's Robinson, but its clear as day he's by far the most dangerous fight out there for Ward Ward takes him on @ 175 and beats him, this board will go on meltdown
Kovalev would knock Ward out, no doubt in my mind.........Stevenson called Ward out and Ward refused to even answer him...............Ward will only fight in his home town with his personal referee, judges, boxing commission, etc.......
SK's timing makes it difficult to pick against him. His wins over Campillo and Salakh were impressive. Can Ward vary the tempo enough to avoid one of SK's reaction punches? Ward may have enough experience and athletic ability to get a points win.
He won't be able to outbox Ward but there is more too him than just power. He's no Randall Bailey for sure.
Totally perplexes me how some hardcore boxing fans fail to see that Kovalev is a ****ing monster. Horrible power, but high level skills, a granite chin and massive experience to go with it Same when some guys around here fail to see that GGG is the Real Deal maybe some of these guys are just real subtle trolls :conf
Kovalev is pretty good from what we know. Ward looked untouchable against A level opposition for years now. Absolutely nothing hints at him getting caught or sloppy against Kovalev. Another poster on here rightly mentioned that punchers get way too much credit on here. People tend to think "he'll connect eventually, a 12 round fight is too long to not get caught by a decent boxer". Well no, 9 ouf ot 10 times that's not what happens when an A tier boxer faces an inferior boxer with a punch. The pure boxer will win 9 out of 10 because not getting hit is what he's good at. I also don't see why Kovalev is rated higher than Pascal or Froch. There is no evidence.
No, and I didn't say nor imply that. Glad you are not objecting though. Kovalev is probably pretty good so "easy" is definitely the wrong word here. Kessler, Abraham, Froch and Dawson weren't easy wins either regardless of how comfortable Ward looked in the ring. It's just that he has absolutely mastered the art of hit and not get hit. Some of the best boxers out there faced him and couldn't touch him - for years. I don't see him slipping either, do you? I don't believe in the "he's gonna get hit eventually" myth. Wlad is waiting to get hit for almost a decade now and it's not happening because of how much better a boxer he is. I see a similar scenario here (although Sergey is more legit of an opponent than most of what Wlad has faced lately).
