Ever tried holding your arms up for a period of time?i may be wrong here but I always thought it was to help strengthen the arms to be able to keep ones arms up?
You can literally disect anybody's resume with that form of logic. Your racial bias is starting to show again, be prepared to change your username to GeySayer when Kovalev accidentally knocks out Ward with a jab.
Well, that looks kind of slow but he's got gloves on though. I used to do the same thing and work the speed bag with 16oz gloves which is not really a speed workout but more of a burn for the shoulders and work on stamina keeping the hands up for a long time. I'm pretty sure he could do better with wraps only.
It's not because you don't know him that nobody does, first, and it is not because some guy is not known that he is not good. Stevenson have been pushing back his fight with Alvarez for a reason.
To be fair he looks exhausted. He looked exhausted in the middle rounds of the Chilemba fight too. Andre Ward is taking his titles back to Oakland and then Ward is going to retire.
His record should actually be 31-0 27 KO's he KO'd Young but he cried rabbit punch and gt a technical draw.
You're exactly right. Not really strengthening them as much as getting in the habit of doing it. A lot of times people put their hands down in boxing out of habit as much as fatigue. I've been hearing that he didn't take his training camp seriously for that fight which is a recurring thing for Kov. A lot of people compare him to Golovkin but their work ethic is entirely different. I don't think it will be a factor for this fight since I can't imagine Kov not taking this match seriously, but eventually he will sleep on the wrong guy I'd wager.

So by your logic beating Kovalev wouldn't make Ward the pound for pound no 1 would it? By your logic the win would be no greater than him beating Brand recently no? Which is it lol as you're actually making Ward look bad for taking on such poor opposition.
Tyson used to hold his hands to his chest because the peek-a-boo requires you to keep you gloves over/near your face. It's hard work defending, blocking, and striking with your arms for over 30 minutes. I dare people to try it and see that someone hitting your arm hurts and then you have to muster up enough strength to hit them back.
