It's unfortunate because I think Yarde proved he has a lot to work with. I'd love to see him with Booth or Shane McGuigan. I reckon either could do wonders with him.
Your lack of respect for boxers is pathetic and you are not funny. If you saw Yarde you would probably ask for a photo. Get back to your beers and pizza.
I keep reading/hearing people say “experience was the difference” - no, it weren’t. Yarde could have 5 more years experience and come up against that same Kov and lose. He lost purely down to boxing ability. Severe lack of fundamentals was his downfall and will continue to be so if he sticks with Tunde.
When Groves boxed Degale, Adam Booth took him to Miami so he could spar Andre DIrrell. DIrrell not only had a similar style to Degale but was at that point in time a superior fighter. That is what a world class trainer brings to the table. Kovalev was there to be beaten last night. Tunde needs to admit to himself that you cannot beat world class fighters using a system he picked up in the Mayweather gym. Mayweather was so good because he was sparring the likes of Frankie Randall and Pernell Whitaker when he was seventeen and had been boxing from the age of three. Had Yarde had some world-class sparring , worked on the jab and body shots he would have had a better chance of winning. Tunde always seems to be trying to outshine his fighter and seems more focused of marketing himself than doing what is actually in the best interest of Yarde
Correct me if I'm wrong but iirc EA did absolutely nothing to Kovalev in the rematch. Not sure if Yarde was any worse. And some people had EA as the #1 in the division at that time.
Humour meltdown alert - read all the posts FFS Yarde was given credit from me for: 1. Going to Russia and taking the fight. 2. For having a real go during the fight in the 8th round.
No it definitely was a factor. He didn’t know how to pace himself properly because he didn’t have the experience of going the distance against a world class operator. It’s not just down to his boxing fundamentals.
The likes of Frank Warren etc are saying it was the key difference. Now get off the fence here and answer this... Does Yarde with 5 years more experience beat that Kovalev from last night?
I’d say possibly yes. Because he was a few punches away from winning there last night. A few 12 round fights under his belt, more experience of going to the body and I absolutely can indeed see him beating Kovalev.
But beyond the 7th and 8th it wasn’t like he was fighting at a pace. His main issue is his defence wasn’t good enough for him to win the fight by pot shotting and fighting at a pace he’s comfortable with. He didn’t disgrace himself but he’s some way off beating Kovalev and being a genuine force at world level. I’m not sure he ever will be but I hope he can be.
5 years boxing experience is massive, especially for someone who started boxing late. 5 years ago Wilder was getting Knocked down by the Worm Dustin Nichols. Now he is one of the most dangerous men in a boxing ring.
