Kovalev vs Yarde reported to be going to purse bid for April 8th

I still think Yarde will find a way to weasel out. This is the kind of fight I won't believe is happening until everything is official.

 

$300k, chump change!

 

If Yarde wanted this fight Frank Warren would have paid Kov to fight in London.

The fact minimum bids starts at $300k tells me Warren could offer Kov say $1 mil to the UK and the fight would be made. Reality is neither Warren or Yarde wants it.

 

I'm gonna go ahead and say it, if Russia wins the purse bids then I don't think it's a duck if Yarde pulls out. No one in their right mind would send a prospect to the lambs in Russia

I don't really blame him, he is still a relative novice. Usually moving up in rankings unusually fast is a good thing but this has put the Yarde glass in quite the predicament. Kovalev is a Welsh rugby prop at his 21st.

 

The main point is Warren could have quite easily avoided a purse bid. Kov wouldn't be that expensive.

The fact that it's going to purse bids is not a good sign.

Yes, they are in fact (or rather via Top Rank). But the main disagreement point is where the fight should take place, not the TV network it should be on.

 

Wouldn’t surprise me if the Russia comments are a tactic to try and get Warren to pay up. I think Kovalev wants a decent payday for the fight and is using that and the purse bud to drive the purse up. Problem is Yarde don’t want that fight. Therefore Kovalevs wasting his time.

 

Why would it be such an issue for Yarde/Warren for it to be in Russia? Are they planning a robbery or a Brit stoppage, with Foster as referee and O'Connor and IJL on the cards or something simular?!

 

I'd like to see this fight, but I don't believe Warren and Yarde really want the fight with Kovalev.

Maybe in a couple of years when Sergey is completely shot, but not now.
