Kovalev needs to work over Wards body, Ward sees head shots coming much like Mayweather, so Kovalev needs to just his approach from the second half of the first fight or Ward wins again. Kovalev has all the tools to beat Ward(well except the awful judges), but he needs to do the things he did well in fight 1, and make some adjustments. I think he will, and that he'll win.
Why do I get the feeling that if Ward wins again the Kov fans win be much like Percy from The Green Mile after John Coffey put the magical smoke in him.
Ward was shocked he won the first time. He knows a butt-kicking on himself on the way the second time around.
Funny you said that @Beouche I was actually just rewatching Kovalev-Cleverly while you posted that. I had an epiphany. Kovalev is going to (or should) fight Ward like he did Cleverly, go with high volume early, keep him at the end of his jabs and combos, throw a tornado of feints and punches at Ward varying up the speed and angles from one punch to the next, even changing his jab into a hook, mixing in uppercuts here and there, prodding Ward's defense until he reacts and makes a mistake opening a hole for Kovalev to exploit. I think that strategy could work like a charm, it would keep Ward cautious and not willing to lunge in fearing a counter early, and short circuit Ward by bringing an entirely different rhythm for the rhythm breaker to have to decode than the last fight, and Kovalev could possibly take him out early with that gameplan. I'll be honest, I want Ward to win more than I think he actually will. I could see both fighters fighting more aggressively and I'd give the edge to Kovalev. If Ward keeps it more technical, I see him winning. Kovalev doesn't have the tank to win rounds late against Wards fighting style. Final Prediction - Ward Split Decision.
Could see Ward winning legitimately this time even if he was off by some distance in the first fight. He does adjust well. Would be hilarious if he got robbed.
Effective aggression now that's a big word, who taught you that? have you been watching the Jim Lamps show? I've seen him a couple times around TriBeCa he has an apartment in Manhattan/New York, NY is state located on the northeast portion of the US (not an insult just providing you with a visual) That was one hell of jab and we all know when you get hurt by a jab it means you're a round or two away from being stomped and stopped right? Anywho, I don't expect Serg (I look 44 when I'm 34) Kovalev to change much of his strategy other than attempting to remain more focused on the body and less focused on trying to offset Wards short range tactics. Your prediction is insanely polarizing and I know a good part that inbreed blood doesn't believe for one second that Ward can't build off of what he learned in the first bout. The same goes for our balding but powerful friend Kovalev, nothing beats having game changing power and he needs to let the KO come to him and not force the issue. BTW i think it's time for your scheduled morning nap TODDler.
I completely respect your opinion on this. Fine if its opposite of mine. I have been reading what I have time to- about Kovalev's background. I was truly surprised when I determined I had lost my liking for Ward, but have never lost my respect for him as a fighter. Educate me about Kovalev's use of racial slurs. I'd appreciate the info.
You come across as a pretty cool dude. It's good to engage on here with people like you. Google "Kovalev racist tweet" for background. I still don't dislike Kovalev but Ward seems to me to be an much classier person than Kovalev. Kovalev is acting like a petulant child in the aftermath of the first fight.
