I certainly do give him credit for that win but crown him one of the best ever? Not for me His style ain't a style I'm a fan of in all honesty
He takes another belt and another potential Stevenson opponent out of the equation. Hopkins at 50 >>>>> Sukhotsky.
True, it's a bit of a lose-lose situation for both it seems, I'll personally be really impressed by the victory of whoever is the winner, they're both very good fighters IMO.
I'll give him complete credit if he wins. I really feel that B-Hop is gonna win, but if Kovalev does, he deserves respect. It's not like Hopkins is some washed up old man fighting for a paycheck, the dudes a living legend, he's smart and so good at adapting to his opponent that there is no such thing as an easy win over him.
He'll have those two belts though (IBF and WBA). He won't get credit for beating Hopkins, but unifying those belts will greatly elevate his status.
To a degree I agree. Like Holmes and Tsyu never got credit for beating Ali and Chavez. Even during the post fight interviews, both fighters really didn't sound like they even gave credit to themselves )
Hopkins makes everybody look bad, even when he loses. He is difficult to hit, very hard to cut off the ring and corner and sets up traps very well and is an excellent counterpuncher. He is also a dirty fighter who uses his head as a third arm. He made a video a few years back showing all the dirty tactics he uses to frustrate an opponent and to stall a fight when he needs a rest as he even then was much older than his opponents. If Kovalov beats Hopkins he will have earned the victory and it may well be remembered as his most important one.
:yep Or they'll just say "the light heavyweight division is weak", when in fact it's loaded with talent.
Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev Will prove he is the meteor sent from space, to take the alien back home. as far as getting credit, this is boxing, hes doing his job. the unbiased knowledgeable fans Judge Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev, when is named number one Lhw.
If he loses his career is not over...because he's an exciting fighter who knocks opponents out. That never gets old to boxing fans.
Why should he get credit. Hopkins is FIFTY years old! We have too many guys who take too much credit and call it legay when they fight faded names. Ahem Pacroid.
