    The last blow was under the belt line but it seemed that Kovalev was hurt already from headshot and he looked to be mentally beaten down as well. I do not think that result had been any different if ref allowed Kovalev some rest time and fight had continued. The better man won.

    Exactly. Ward's tactics are no doubt the dirtiest in boxing. Not to mention his back acne he had going on and the **** his 'team' tried to pull with the whole coach thing. The guy is a fraud.

    While I haven't seen the Ward/Kovalev 2 fight yet, your description makes it sound like a Ricky Hatton/Tszyu, Wladimir Klitschko/Povetkin, or Brook/Porter.

    Yet Klitschko turned out to be a great fighter without going to America. Joshua can easily be a big star without going to USA either. Povetkin is big in Russia. Any top notch Euro boxer now can make his own career at his home. Kovalev is an exception because he was overlooked in Russia but I wouldn't be surprised if he returns! Especially after how he has been treated.

    Klitschko's shows in Germany were top notch, the entrances were magnificent.

    Also for example this entrance in Britain, you could just feel that violence is going to take place (you never get that same feeling in Vegas):

    You can't call this a victory for Kovalev. Even if you think the shots were illegal it pretty much just voids Ward's victory but that doesn't mean Kovalev won.

    Kovalev just isn't that good. His resume consists of an ancient B-Hop and Pascal x2. One of the most overhyped fighters of recent times.

    Anomaly? How about Haye vs Bellew which was arguably bigger than anything in the USA recently not involving Canelo? The American top talent Spence had to go to Britain. Any Joshua fight in Britain will be a big fight at this point.

    Ward actually got lucky because Kovalev is such an old school fighter that wanted to fight him and put up with his BS. Kovalev could have just decided to go to Russia and defend his belts there and say **** you to America. He'd earn a lot of money that way as well.

    Kovalev said that that girl from Chelyabinsk who hit him once gave him more trouble with her punch than Ward. This was a mistake from Kovalev because it gave Ward an idea and it made him copy her gameplan to fight Kovalev like a woman, hitting the male attacker to the balls to disable him.
