It was an excellent round.. Kov showed lots of heart staying upright and trying to fire back. And the concern on Klimas' face at the end of the round was priceless..
Ruiz-Joshua round 3 happened and is definitely ahead. Hooker and Ramirez also had a big round. Hurd and Jrock too
BT, 'Brits' and the rest will be desperate to keep replaying this round everywhere to try to save their Yarde brand and save face in general. It will make it seem like Yarde didn't just get systematically beaten by a guy a decade older and then KO'd with a jab. If you flood the airwaves with your new 'brand' beating his chest to demo his lion heart and then failing to make the count after being floored by a jab, it's quite damaging.
or you could argue Kovalev was on the verge of getting KO'd by a novice with less than 5 years experience as a pro, and half as many fights in his career, only 12 amateur fights, who never fought 10 let alone 12 rds. it could be that Yarde lost because he was having stamina issues, he was knocked down from a push earlier in the 11th rd. Kovalev's jab didn't have to have much power on it, Yarde was spent. and I haven't seen any evidence that he failed to make the count. the cameras suddenly panned out and didn't show what happened after Yarde fell. that was suspicious, I didn't see or hear the ref count him out. sounds like some Russian home cooking to me.
wow both guys showing some heart there. In the end it did go down as most of us predicted with the sheer experience and class overcoming the younger man. I thought this was a mental move but you gotta give props to Yarde for travelling into Kovalevs backyard albeit in a fairly one sided loss.
