I'm not sure if this fight will be topped for me this year, it was a clash of two big men delivering big action and high drama, you just don't see that often.
Yeh its a shame. fights like this would take the attraction away from the welters and so on. I do like the little men with superior skils and speed boxing. But sometimes you cant beat two big men punching away at each other in a war, taking bombs and landing bombs. Takam vs povetkin was a good fight, but really there aren't many outstanding slugging matches at 175lbs+ I think fury and wilder would be that sort of fight if it happened.
Was like something off Mortal Mombat when he did that. Thought I heard Kathy shout "finish him!" during the fight.
I agreed with the judges and gave Pascal only two rounds, and yes, Kovalev did win the rounds clearly resulting in a relatively easy fight to score. That said, I still thought the fight was fairly competitive. I thought Pascal was live for the vast majority of each and every round. I felt Pascal was a clear danger to Kovalev just about the entire time of the fight, that to me says competitive. It ended just inside a respectable eight rounds, a little short, but definitely not short in action. There are countless 12 rnd fights you don't get that much action in.
yeah totally different feel to the hopkins fight which I knew was over after about 30 seconds, Pascal always felt like a threat
I kept thinking there was a good chance he may drop Kovalev with one them counter rights, great fight, had me on the edge for the duration.
