i cant translate full interview, so i decided to pick the most interesting information: Kovalev: "there was a strange accident short before a fight. Campillo's promoter offered me to box with Reyes gloves. I said: "Ok" and than he gave me an ultimatum "Everlast or Campillo is going to cancel the fight". Also Kovalev got only 20.000 bucks, and he can keep only 40%, so around 8.000...
Kovalev also has said that he got no trainer, jackson is only doing some pad-work with him. Seems that Sergey is a self-made boxer like Pirog.
Impressive, but not surprising. He doesn't seem to have a fixed style...just goes about landing his bombs by any means necessary. Not to say he's wild or anything, his control is actually quite nice for a puncher - just that he doesn't have anything like a specific coaching blueprint about his offense.
Then sergey needs to have faith in his abilities and move permanately to the US and find home in a gym and with a trainer. He's a clever boxer with natural power who needs to be in a gym with an array of different styles and good sparring. If he consistently does that he'll be a world champion.
I'm guessing, but that's probably "incident" not "accident." Anyway, thanks. This is quite interesting. :good
Seems so. Cloud is a decent fighter and Campillo completely schooled him. Now Kovalev made Campillo look like a C level fighter. There are factors to count in and i do believe that in both fights the stiles had a little to do with the outcome but the way Kovalev did it... i would not want to face him at the moment :bart
