:patsch:rofl You really dont know boxing, fact that he clinches doesnt he doesnt have talent or skill it means he doesnt have fighters mentality, that doesnt come from no skill it comes from his head, Vitali took all fighting spirit in that family, you can see Vitali enjoying while he is boxing very relaxed while Wlad is always tense and simply fights scared, when he gets hit with solid shot even if he takes a shot good he just goes to clinch like he doesnt believe in his chin and panics a little, fact that he even clinches against shot cw like Mormeck tells a lot. Fact is if he didnt have HUGE talent and GREAT physical attributes(chin aside) he would not be where he is now with his mentality!

You weren't looking very hard then. Several articles from that period, if you know how to filter a Google search for a custom time range (ie October 2010)

He was indeed dropped late in an eight-round war, in which Kovalev and Boone were slugging in a phonebooth landing TNT on each other pretty much all the way. It was in the seventh and he popped right up. Kovalev was also green and just a year into his pro run, while Boone was a 6-year vet with many prospect upsets on his ledger and even more close battles with a higher grade of prospects. (including Andre Ward, dropped a few rounds earlier than Kovalev and escaping with his own close points victory in a six-rounder) Kovalev won 5 of 8 rounds on two cards and split evenly with Boone on the last one, meaning without the knockdown it would've been a majority decision of 77-75/77-75/76-76 instead of a SD.

There is nothing even remotely suspect about Kovalev's jaw.

Yes, right hand temple shot, didn't put him out cold but scrambled his circuits and turned his legs to al dente spaghetti. Legit KO for those who never saw it.

Boone is far more talented and powerful than records suggest. What has always kept him down from reaching success is a penchant for laziness, and the occasional robbery loss, and incredibly tough matchmaking to pay the bills. Kind of like a higher weight version of Emanuel Augustus (or lower weight Glengoffe Johnson)

Well...actually, you're just flat out wrong there.

One source does cite a second time hitting the canvas, but it must have been ruled a slip and the other two articles don't even mention it so it probably wasn't a KD.

Also, with all the mitigating factors:

...even with it being true it still is nothing shameful for Kovalev. His jaw is no more suspect than Ward's.

lol Kovalev fans (who happen to be butthurt Ward haters) are so confused right now.
prior to finding out this info, they used to use boone to bash Ward and talk about his chin and how Boone is a bum and can't punch.
now that Kovalev is also a victim, Boone is "underrated" and a big puncher.
    :rofl

Are you referring to me, Sweetle Dumb?

...because if you look at my post history I am by no means a Ward hater and have actually been consistent in saying that about Boone.

I do use the KO loss to rag on Stevenson and caution that his chin may well be exposed again when he gets caught flush by a world class operator - but that's because a knockout loss is a lot worse than getting up off the canvas to still win as both Ward and Kovalev did. :deal

    Ward > Kovalev >>>>> Stevenson.

I have nothing but respect for SOG and for Boone, so paint someone else with that brush, homey. :hi:

His jaw probably would look shaky if Stevenson landed on it, and vice versa.
