It's all about money. Right now Kovalev vs Stevenson is not ppv worthy, it's already big but it barelly surpasses matchups with BHop and Pascal for Stevenson, much safer options. If Stevenson keeps winning and Kovalev, who is rising fast, also keeps winning decent matchups, the public demand could turn this matchup into a huge event, ppv, one that would pay Stevenson 5 times more the ammount he would get for his second best option. IMO, when we get to that point the fight will happen and I expect that to be 2-3 fights down the road, in early 2015.
A win over Pascal would show the people who doubt Kovalev that he's for real. I think he would knock Pascal out, too.
You guys are all smokin dope if you think Pascal will fight Kovalev. Pascal thinks even more lowly of Kovalev than Stevenson does. Doesn't give two shits about him. Pascal doesn't have a contract with HBO. Hell, Pascal doesn't even have a promoter right now. He's still renegotiating a new contract with GYM. Stop throwing the Kovalev-Pascal possibility out there. Shows your ignorance.
kovalev is who many feel is the number one guy at 175 and hes going to fight a guy coming off back-to-back tko and ko losses? this is whats wrong with boxing fans today where they think its okay for a wbo champion to defend his title against such an opponent
Cloud would fit the bill. He is durable, but flat footed. It would definitely be an action fight. I doubt Pascal would even fight Kovalev.
Ward refused to fight Stevenson who called him out more than once. Ward will not fight Stevenson at 175 or 168, plus, to fight Ward you have to fight in his home town with his personal referee, judges, boxing commission, etc.............
I just hope that Ward can get pass the stalemate he now has with Goosen. This is the reason boxing fans have not seen Ward in the ring recently. Ward doesn't want to put money in Dan Goosen's pocket, and Goosen doesn't want to let Ward out of his contract, so Ward isn't fighting. Hopefully, Ward will get this resolved and then come out and clean up all the riff-raff.
