Moore, Foster, and Satterfield were all light heavyweights that hit harder id recon Fitz, Ketchel and Langford and a few other middleweights hit harder as well below 175lbs Light heavyweight has never been a "big hitter" weight in my eyes. Many speedsters and ring general masters, though
I wouldn’t say very many with any certainty....but this is classic after all and there will be hundreds. Perhaps Foster, but not many others I would say with certainty. I feel like Kovalev would be in the upper echelon either way.
Id say 8/10. Pretty solid. He just doesnt always go for the kill as much as he should. Maybe more combinations could give him more stoppages, sometimes he's content to just box.
Spinks, Foster, probably Fitz and Langford. Maybe Moorer, Satterfield, and a few others. Julian Letterlough had great natural power but not the delivery system of a guy like Kovalev. I think Sergey Kovalev is up there with the greats. I ranked him #1 on my recent top-15 of current 175-pounders. He killed a guy, broke a rib with a jab, put a man to sleep with one, and hits so hard that he only needs to touch you to earn your respect.
I’m not that sure of his power compared with the top guys. Once he stepped up against better opposition it was nothing that special. He’s a good fighter but he’s somewhat overrated by some on here.
Saad, Spinks and Mustafa all had one punch ko power. I would venture to guess they all hit harder than Kovalev. Even Don Lalonde could give Kovalev a run for his money power wise. Maybe Moorer, but his body of work doesn't show one punch ko power. He could wobble good competition, but a faded Leslie Stewart took a lot before the ref stopped it.
Tarver had greater one punch power. So did Jones. Kovalev used to put 100% into every punch. He now knows that's detrimental at the top level and fights in more of a stand up European style.
Danny Nardico deserves a mention in this discussion . The former Marine and 2 x Purple Heart medal boxer was once ranked no 5 at LHW by Ring Magazine and the only boxer to knockdown Jake La Motta. He might not have a great defense but his power and style made him for some thrilling wars. His fight with HW Charley Norkus was a classic which involved 8 knockdowns. This content is protected
