Kovalev's punches in the 2nd half of the fight were sloppy...

Yes, he was landing.... He just looked zapped of energy and the punches didn't seem clean cut like in the early rounds.

Holy ****? You mean it's not the quality and power behind the punch that matters? But now it's how pretty they look?

Sounds Hella gay and female to me.

Lucky for me, I watched the fight with NO commentary(foreign telecast), No ledderman in between rounds, and no Lampley. So that's how I scored it. I scored it STRICTLY on what I saw and not what Lampley/ledderman wanted me to believe I saw

Kovalev's punches were much better than Ward's Holding....................the undercard was also crooked................

Dude I was watching it on HBO PPV and I can't stand freakin Lederman, him scoring round 9 to Kovalev was LITERALLY ABSURD. Ward won the crowd over in that round then to hear Lederman's dumb ass start going on about how Kovalev won round 9 was a huge buzz kill. All night Lederman's cards were in stark contrast to the official judges.

OP is right that Kovalev did get sloppy as the fight wore on and Ward's concentration was at another level. I thought Ward deserved it. Make no mistake about it, Ward won the close rounds.

Kovalev clearly won rounds 1 and 2. Rounds 3 and 4 were toss ups, but after that I thought Ward won the majority of the rounds. Kovalev faded and got more sloppy as the fight wore on, and Ward's superior stamina concentration and punching repertoire provided the decisive factor I M H O !!

I'm sorry you had to sit thru that bs. They have an agenda. Remember 19 years ago when they had De la Hoya stright up dominating/murdering Sweet Pea. If I were blind and just listening to the fight, I would have swore De la Joya was beating Whitaker to within an inch of his life. They were doing the same thing in 2001 when Hopkins fought Trinidad. Hopkins would make Tito miss, counter him and they'd be calm. Tito would land a punch , that never hurt Hopkins, and they would jump out of their seats. I hate HBO

How so? Kovalev threw more, landed more and landed harder. If that's the effect he was going for then yes it worked for him.

It didn't even seem Kovalev even landed more tbh. I know thats what the compubox said so it must be true.

His quality of punches weren't there... like i said sloppy and cumbersome shots. Whereas Ward was landing the crisper, cleaner blows.

Whats more confusing is how some people think Ward landed the better shots, when Kovalev was the one that dropped him and had him wobbly more times.

Well... if you take the whole fight vs the early round knockdown and first round... It was a close, competitive fight but i feel the cleaner, more effective work was from Ward going down the stretch. It wasn't a robbery either way... A close fight is about right.

A draw would have been more fairer i guess.

Well I thought Lampley Roy and Max did a fine job tonight. Max even vehemently disagreed with Lederman when he said Kov won the 9th. I like pretty much everything about HBO except for freakin Lederman. Every time I hear his scorecard it's like nails on a freakin chalkboard. I mean if Harold couldnt be inspired enough by SOG in the 9th dude just gotta call it a day.

TBH if anything HBO were heavily Pro-Ward tonight to which I agreed in large part due to quality punching and Krusher's stamina issues, but I know they've play favorites at times.
