Kovalev seems to be easily written off as a hypejob far more frequently than GGG, because of his lack of notable wins, but in reality their resumes are basically equal. The Light Heavyweight Division doesn't get near the attention that Middleweight does, therefore the opponents that GGG has faced are pretty well known to most fans, whereas Kovalev's are basically unknown especially to most American audiences.
But GGG's Resume is better in name recognition only, Kovalev's opponents have been just as, if not a little more impressive they Golovkin's to date, and he should get a little more credit than he does.

The losses I mention are losses before their Match with GGG or Kovalev.

    Golovkin's Resume_____________________________________________

Now Sergey is fighting a Living Legend, but will he be considered better than GGG if beats BHop, probably not.:-(
GGG has far better technique and overall skill he is easily the better boxer of the 2, but as far as blunt force punching power, and a crowd pleasing style I personally think Kovalev edges out GGG on that as well.
They're both have pretty impressive resume's but Sergey should a little more hype than he does.

    Postscript
Kovalev schooled BHOP. Kovalev may be equally skilled as GGG, maybe more so.
    GGG beat Murray.

I think Golovkin's resume is better at this moment but if Kovalev beats Hopkins he surpasses him.

I think maybe it's because Golovkin looks less beatable than Kovalev, cause of his seemingly better skill and chin perhaps?

Kovalev is also far more reckless and doesn't plant his feet as well as GGG, therefore he seems less stabilized, I think Sergey's chin is fine, but your right he does lack the skill of GGG. But what he lacks in skill he more than makes up for with a more exciting overall style.

I agree, I'm more of a fan of Kovalev than GGG, I think his resume is better as well at the moment and he's also fighting a top level opponent soon whereas with GGG it's unclear when he'll fight one, but I think GGG may overall be a bit better, Kovalev is more exciting to me though which says quite a lot considering how exciting GGG is.

Based on what evidence, the Atoev KD he also got up and finished the match, so what Atoev is a big puncher he also happened to beat Beterbiev in the amateurs as well, Vitali got KO'd in the amateurs yet he was iron chinned as a pro.

I think Kovalev hits harder in a p4p sense while GGG is overall more skilled as a fighter.
Kovalev seems content to hit his opponent anywhere until he finds an opening to really do damage.
GGG cuts off the ring and uses his jab/feints/throw away punches to put his opponent in position to land hard shots.
Both are skilled punchers. Both are Must Watch TV, imo.
One thing I like about Kovalev is he has that easy power. Doesn't really look like he puts everything into some of his punches but the result is devastating.

GGG's placement of his punches is immaculate, that's why all of his punches are as devastating as they are. He knows where and how to punch to get the desired effect he's looking for, he's obviously a far more intelligent technical boxer than a lot of his detractors are willing to give him credit for.

That being said I have no idea how Kovalev KO's people with glancing blows and light jabs to the stomach, Sergey has terrifying power.

Kovalev is the most devastating puncher in boxing right now, imo

Kovalev's weakness is his brittle skin--he cuts easily and I'm sure Father Time is banking
on head butting his way to a TKO--which could happen
Kovalev cuts way to easily and hence he's a TKO waiting to happen--like Vitali

Kovalev's resume is **** compared to golovkin's one.

Who has Kovalev ever beat, apart from a plethora of BUMS?
