I am a huge Kovalev fan but you are insane. Kovalev is falling over his own feet, slipping on water or logos or getting them tangled with his opponent every fight. Even had a KD scored on him as a direct result.

Golovkin's footwork and balance is lightyears ahead of Kovalev's.

think kovalovs benefitted from the boxing politics in his division, cleverly didn't have to fight kov and could have ducked him and fought a lesser fighter, as could Hopkins. In middleweight they would have ducked / vacated and left Kovalov fighting lesser opposition.

think LHw is / was a week division, hence some of the champions being ex sMW or Mw's moving up because it was an easier shot to a title.

for me GGG is better than kovalov though I do partially agree with the theme of the thread that GGG's hype far exceeds kovalovs when their records are similar.

I agree that Kovalev has better wins now, but GGG has been a reigning champ for longer, stops men in brutal fashion too and was a bigger amateur star with gold in the World Champs and a Olympic silver medal which brought worldwide exposure. I think they're both top class.

And GGG has what exactly? Guerrero is better than Geale/Murray GGG's two best win's at this point so what am I missing. At least Berto has been a champion GGG's best win's are guy who are best known for losing to the champs not being one.

Because GGG gets a lot more hype than his resume warrants. Kovalev's hype is more in line with his resume. Pascal and old Hopkins are probably better wins than GGG's best wins.

Guerrero? Please. Guerrero has been on US TV longer he is not the better fighter by a long shot.

    ----

As far as Kovalev having a better resume than GGG, yeah he does at this point. But I fail to see how that is a major thing like some trolls make it out to be. (not talking to you here CST)

Krusher and GGG are both awesome fighters, Kovalev has had the business stars align a bit better for him. Good for him, it doesnt bother me in the slightest that such a skilled and entertaining fighter like Kovalev is getting opportunities to really shine in the ring.

Geale was a unified champion. Stfu already, you speak on what you know nothing about.

Roman Gonzalez, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Juan Francisco Estrada, Danny Garcia, and Andre Ward have better resumes too. Why don't you start a thread about them? Kovalev is pretty well hyped at the moment.
