are you saying the kd of hops in round 1 was a balance shot ? not even close, he his hit cleanly and hops completely lost his legs, they came right out from under him, almost like there was some kind of liquid on the matt, problem is that impossible since that wasn't either fighters corner.

hops was terribly embarrassed that's why he was looking around for something under him to blame for the KD.

hops showed one of the very best chins in boxing last Saturday night. he was hit cleanly throughout the fight and was really only hurt like 4/5 x, he should had been ko'd 4/5 separate times.

kov hits like a truck and landed all night long. much respect for hops, especially when one considers per science , biology ones ability to take clean shots to the head and body decreases as one ages.

hops said, besides the swelling on the lsft side of his face he looked pretty good the next day, what he also said was the beating he took made him hurt terribly over the next few days, spend the first 48 hours after the fight in ice tubs..

kov showed how skilled he really is ( some of us knew this all along) and hops is one tough mofo, he just doesn't have the skills or strength to mess with the top 175 lber.

Hard Punchers Trinidad, and Pavlik didn't have a 49 year old Hopkins in front of them either. Hopkins was floored by Mercado in 100+ degree heat down in Ecuador. I don't really count that due to the heat and possibly the altitude. Hopkins was floored by Pascal, also. Hopkins takes a hell of a shot, and has good recuperative abilities. Probably the reason he has been going down lately, is because he is in there with bigger guys, and he is 40+. He has taken bombs from good punchers, and big punchers throughout his career. At the lighter weights he would usually just walk through them. At 175, he still seems to walk through most of it, but he gets buzzed or dropped when hit with a good shot from time to time. Some of it is also balance. I thought the shot that Kovalev hit him with where Hopkins was about to go down, but regained his composure and righted himself, was a harder shot then the one that he went down from.

 

agreed, the KD of hops was clean but he was hit way harder and hurt way more during that match and stayed upright.

hops truly is a phucking alien, he should had been ktfo on more than a few occasions against kov. I think kov hurt him enough throughout the fight that hops should not fight again and never think about fighting anyone who can punch at all.

I think whatever hops had left, everything he went into the ring with against kov is now mostly gone. there were a few times he was hit so cleanly and his legs buckled badly yet the dude stayed up.

NO reason to continue fighting and getting stopped by some contender. there is only ONE fight I would be all for hops taking as a farewell fight and its because this hops beats him easy and since he is so vastly over rated hops would get props and that is go on and beat the hell out of froch

 

It's hard to KO someone who is running the whole fight and staying in a defensive shell.

 

he couldn't ko hopkins and don't blame it on the shell ****, cedric agnew was in his shell all night and kovalev was able to ko him, hopkins defense and chin are on another level.

 

Agnew didn't move as much, and Sergey had something to prove, he beat the old man at his own game. Everybody knew he could possibly stop Hops but what they didn't know was how good of a boxer the Krusher really is.
In the long run what's going to look better, blowing Hopkins out in 1 round, or dropping him, schooling him and then nearly KOing in the last round.

 

I was happy that Kovalev gone the distance with Hopkins, which proved that his stamina and skills were underrated, but now i see here and there some *****s/idiots talking about how Kovalev's power were overrated.

1. Kovalev had respect for Bhop, he started to beat the **** out of him only after Hop sticked his tongue out, haha
2. Bhop chin is ATG. In same list with Toney, Hagler, Chuvalo.
