I understand guys like him or Arreola will never be chiseled but at least not coming in with tits and a beer gut

I also think his wins are wildly overrated

Washington: not only did Wilder stop him but so did Miller and after a very grueling fight

Szpilka: that was one of the most brutal heavyweight knockouts in recent memory couple that with the fact that he was dropped and hurt vs Mollo and would go on to get dropped by Wach as well. Szpilka has always been a susceptible fighter..hell he was even stopped by Bryant Jennings

I think people are letting their dislike of Wilder over inflate these wins. This is some serious celebrating of left overs! Wilder struggled in those fights because he has a passive and over reliant style on his big right hand. The Washington fight was close when he stopped him and was never in any real danger or hurt. Szpilka, Wilder had taken over, had the lead, had the momentum and got the KO. It went rounds and he had some trouble early but that was about it.

 

Due to injury, inactivity, and knowing his own level after losing to Chisora.

 

He was injured going into the Chisora fight apparently but those wins were way above Spizilka or Washington.

He proved Szpilka and Washington to be overrated.

Martin: Underrated.

 

It’s not underrating someone because of how they look, in isolation, it’s usually about what that stands for. It usually shows a lack of discipline and dedication.

In most walks of life hard work and dedication will take you further than raw talent alone.

I think as far as how good he is he’s right where he belongs. I do hope more people start to overlook his appearance for his entertainment value though. Unless it’s big, high level outboxer like Fury it’s a guaranteed slugfest every time.

 

Washington is awful, the Mansour fight was a draw and many had Mansour winning if I recall correctly. The Chambers win came at the end of his career, Chambers had lost to Adamek and Mchunu years before, hardly impressive.

Washington is not even David Price level. Like Price he's big, has a glass chin, no stamina, but at least Price hits hard, though Washington has a better jab.

The Wilder fight flattered Washington, Wilder was coming off an injury in that fight, so was rusty.
