Looks a little like second run George Foreman, fights a little like Marciano. Some power, throws punches in bunches, good variety and selection, goes to the body, great chin, no quit in him, no defense to speak of and not the least concerned with scientific boxing. Maybe no world beater, but a fun action fighter who is going to have a similar fan base to someone like Derrick Chisora. This was a terrific fight and there are going to be a lot more. By the way, 96-94? What fight were they watching?
I read though some of the comments on the RBR, and I think maybe this is a bit of echo-chamber thinking coming out. Go watch the fight again with a clear mind--it was not close and Martin did not throw enough to be competitive in many rounds.
I'm beginning to think you're a fine example of the Dunning-Kruger effect and nowhere near as smart as you like to think you are.
He reminds me of Tony Galento. Same type build, same awkward misses but hard puncher with plenty of courage. Tonights fight was a war. I am looking forward to watching him next time he fights.
Yes because Botha also outgunned a former titleist in one of the most entertaining scraps of the year, throwing 80 punches a round and showing an iron chin... Oh wait, he didn't. Look, I'm not saying that this guy is going to be the next great champ, only that he is going to make a lot of money and put on a lot of fun fights. Book it.
Kownacki is a poor mans Miller, but in a way, that makes him even more marketable. Miller, Whyte and Joyce would take him without too many problems. I'll tell you what though, Kownacki's chin impressed the hell out of me tonight. After getting bloodied and slapped around a bit by Kiladze, I thought Kownacki might have been shielding a weak beard and would get busted up and fold from Martins bombs, proved his chin is very solid in an excellent fight. Id like to see Kownacki vs Joyce next. Keep the good US heavyweight fights rolling.
