I think Kownacki had a decent chin but with his no defense style it's quite possible that it's been cracked from too many hard shots. It remains to be see if he's reduced to a glass jawed joke but until he proved otherwise it'll have to be considered suspect. I'll give him some benefit of the doubt because Helenius while past it it has cracked some chins before and as you know what the saying is. Powers the last thing to go. But I tend to agree with you and that much like his stablemate Wilder(who he was very clearly going to be fed to before Fury ruined things) things will likely be downhill from here on out. Once these manufactured fighters get exposed they usually don't recover. Unlike Wilder I don't think Kownacki is in denial about things but like Wilder he lacks the skills and attributes to go back to the drawing board and correct things.
Yeah, it's shaky. Kownacki's whiskers might be okay against limited fighters, but against world class operators - even a washed-up fringe contender like Helenius - they just are sturdy enough.
He's going to have a torrid time against Joshua, Fury and Wilder then, isn't he? Being heavy handed is not just a synonym for hitting hard. Wilder isn't necessarily heavy handed, but he's very explosive and rangy, and puts everything into his right hand. That's how he generates power. He's not likely to rock someone with a slow, cuffing shot like Lucas Browne because he lacks that raw strength and clubbing weight behind his shots.
He's a strong heifer, the wait till he's Bullnacki2.0 then you'll see. Helenius took his twix bar, sabatoged the night
Generally agree with all of this. Kownacki is a face-first brawler who lacks the iron chin of say a McCall or Chuvalo to compensate for his abysmal lack of defense and basic boxing skills. Guys like this don't last long at the top level. I suspect he will hit the canvas many times in the future should he choose to continue his career.
He reminds me a lot of Arreola, but even Arreola understood the need to avoid unnecessary punishment. Kownacki just seems to have complete disdain for his opponent's punches and his chin has likely been badly eroded at this point. He needs to retire for the sake of his health, or take at least a year off to drastically refine his style and get into better shape. Hard to see a man who abuses his body to that extent suddenly turning things around though.
