Kronk Gym being shut down stripped apart already

I agree with most here, this sounds shady to me, having dealt with opportunistic relatives myself in the past.

I know she just lost someone close to her, and this might be some strange coping mechanism... but that statement sounds extremely callous too. Manny cared for all his fighters, I don't think he would have approved of this.

 

But Manny knew the people in the gym better than she does and he had no problem letting them near his memorabilia so why change that? If she was worried about thieves in the gym then why didn't she tell Manny to remove the valuable things from the gym when he was alive? If she did then he refused and probably for a good reason.

And it doesn't sound like it's gonna re-open anytime soon. She took the ring out, who the hell is gonna steal a goddamn ring?

Manny knew some of the people maybe more than her. She was the one cutting checks and dealing with the personalities on the business end why Manny was out flying to Vegas, NYC, Germany, and etc.

She held down the business end of the gym, and if she says those people would strip the place dry, even people in the building who work there, I believe her more than you.

She took the ring, famous posters, and memorabilia that is hers.

The only thing I hope she does is open the gym back up, but she is obviously going through some things right now.

 

Obviously i'm not fortunate enough to have known Emanuel personally, but i get the feeling he would have wanted to keep the gym open in order to carry on the Kronk legacy and bring more Detroit fighters through.

He had a genuine love for the sport, and an incredible knowledge of it down to all levels. On HBO when a fighter was on their way to the ring for a big fight, Manny would talk about their fights from when they were teenagers in the amateurs as he was actually there! That kind of passion for something is rare, and i'd be absolutely amazed if he wanted the Kronk to close down.

 

I don't know that the gym is going to be shut down, I think she was getting things of value to her, and their family, then will look to reopen it in the future. Furthermore the gym was on a "month by month" basis depending on donations to remain open. Manny may have been fine with pouring his money into the gym, but she may not be. I think she deserves the benefit of the doubt in this situation and to this point she's done nothing to deserve negativity.

 

It's all about the TMZ brigade on this site.

so much shady **** goes on when someone with money dies that was from a ghetto family. people get robbed and ****ed over by family members even after death. his sis is probably the vulture. she's probably gonna sell all of that ****.

Kronk is a public rec center, not Steward's gym. When it was going to be shut down b/c of lack of funding, Steward publicly said he wasn't going to save it. It's still alive, and probably has some things Steward paid for but the gym is not his, although his sister is acting like it is.

 

All these silly auction comments are stupid. She's probably in his will, which is worth way more than gym equipment.

Damn, people.

I don't agree with her but maybe she will come around in time. Let's hope so.
