Yup a ring is very easy to steal, if you got a ring in your garage or in your backyard I advise you to take it out and place it in a vault ASAP. But she had no problem working with these people until Manny died. Those people ran the gym everyday and Manny trusted them but now that he's dead they're gonna loot the place? It doesn't make sense. Yeah the ring is hers but it wasn't going anywhere. She's just being paranoid.
lool at labeling a business woman and mannys sister ghetto because shes trying to take care of her brothers things.
She told you the problem she had, people stealing or who steal tryign to profit off the death of her brother. What you think about the ring is irrelevant, what she thinks about its safety is the only thing that matters. I support her and I think she is doing what she thinks is best. It is obvious most of the people crying in this thread, know nothing of the money situation with regard to the gym, the personalities, or the business. Pretty sad that you all in your ignorance are lashing out at someone who is dealing with running a business, losing their business partner, and also losing their brother.
For a change I actually agree. It sounds to me that she wants to make sure all the Kronk property is safe in the chaotic aftermath of his death when people with access to the establishment could easily strip it dry in greed or malice, or take liberties with things Manny specifically left to her to manage with rationalizations of 'I think Manny would want me to have this.' Pretty soon, there would be nothing left. It sounds like she just wants to safeguard everything for the time being until plans can be established to open the gym under new management, turn it into a lower key shrine to Detroit boxing in another location, or whatever else Manny trusted her to do with it. He knew there was a very good chance he would die, he entrusted Kronk to her, and I think he just may have known her better than anyone here, no?
Actually, Nas, that was true of the old Kronk Rec Center, which closed in 2006. It was a City owned and operated facility. Steward never had to pay any costs associated with keeping that gym going; he used it as his base. It was one of several boxing gyms owned and operated by the City rec department. You are right about that location being shut down through City budget cuts. The current location is a small storefront miles away from the original location. The current spot has (had) one ring, a few heavy bags, a few speed bags, and not much else. I've been there many times. It was only open a few hours per day. Believe me, there might have been a few things of value there, but most of Manny's memorabilia and items of value are probably at his house. I'm not sure why his sister is making this move.
