I ran across Randall "Tex" Cobb vs. Leon Spinks on youtube -- a 1988 fight I attended in Nashville, so I was intrigued -- and notice that Spinks is wearing Kronk trunks. A quick bit of Google research seems to confirm that Neon Leon was at one time an actual Kronk fighter.

Got me to thinking: can we put together a true and relatively complete roster of Kronk fighters? I mean true Kronk guys, not just fighters who trained there or were trained independently by Emmanuel Stewart. So I figured I'd start a thread and give it a shot.

Here's a partial list to get it started:

    Thomas Hearns
    Hilmer Kenty
Dwight Davidson (?) - pretty sure he was a Kroner; know he's from Detroit in that era
    Mickey Goodwin
    Leon Spinks
    Duane Thomas
    Milton McCrory
    Davey Armstrong
    Dujuan Johnson
    Caveman Lee
    Tony Tucker
    Lindell Holmes
    Danny Paul
    Dave Braxton
Bernard Mays (?) - again, another Detroit guy, was he a true Kronk guy?

That should be a good start. Who's missing?

In the early '80's one of the boxing mags, I believe it was Ring, ran a full page ad for Kronk. I haven't seen it in many years but I can visualize it. It showed a photo of every current member with the name of the fighter under the photo.

Here's a few that you missed

Brett Summers (one of the few white guys)
    Steve McCrory
    Hurley Snead
    Jimmy Paul
    Lorenzo Barber
    Tony Anthony
    Oba Carr
    Philip Morefield (a white guy)

Dwight Davison (not 'Davidson) did fight for Kronk towards the end of his career.

That's right, I forgot about Barber.

Michael Moorer was Kronk too, I think.

Yeah, I think Mickey Goodwin was also white.

Was Mike McCallum ever a full-fledged Kronk guy?

That full page ad ran in Boxing Digest almost every month and the roster changed from month to month.

Darrell Chambers, Stanley Longstreet and Keith Kelly all took a turn wearing the gold trunks too.

The most interesting guy not mentioned yet was J.L "Poison" Ivey, who was a very slick and talented boxer who ended up getting blatantly screwed against Jose Vidal Conception in an outdoor show after pitching pretty much a clear shutout and took a swipe at one of the judges, who happened to be a woman. He pretty much got blackballed after that, despite having substantial talent, and ended up moving back to Buffalo NY and was murdered by a guy who was paid $700 to kill him after Ivey robbed some other teenage dealers at gunpoint of their stash. Waste of talent and largely forgotten now.

Let's add Keith Vining, Anthony Jones and Spencer Chavis as well. I think Booker Word and Courtney Hooper did some time there too.

Seems like Alvin "Too Sweet" Hayes was a short lived Kronk guy too. I remember the writeups on his KO loss to Jimmy Paul in the magazines talking about them fighting because they Hayes left and changed promoters.

That's a crazy amount of talent to come from one gym. Especially if you count Wlad and Lewis.
    Great thread!

Speaking of Leon Spinks, I believe he had the Kronk colors on for his beating at the hands of Dwight Muhammad Qawi, and I think Emanuel Steward was in his corner for that fight.
