None of these guys were Kronk fighters, although they worked with Manny and may have trained there. Kronk was a gym, of course, but for a time there was a 'team' that included management as well as training -- this group wasn't part of that.

Not Kronk fighters. May have worked out there.

I don't think either were Kronk. I know Breland and will probably see him sometime in the next few months and can ask him.

I'm not certain about David Braxton. I recall he was from Detroit but there was a bit of a thing at the time mentioning not all Detroit fighters came out of Kronk. And I think he lost a disputed decision to Duane Thomas which he made a big thing about saying something like Kronk was always favored in a close fight or something like that. But I guess it is possible he ended up with Kronk at some time or other. You also mentioned Bernard 'Superbad' Mays. He was indeed Kronk. Also I should mention Gaby Canizales actually signed on with Kronk later in his career. He would still live in Texas but train at Kronk for a fight.

Braxton apparently moved to the Kronk team at some point. He's wearing Kronk gear in his challenge of McCallum (a former Kronk guy by this time) for the WBA junior middle tite. You can see it in this video:

The thread asked for fighters who were trained by Emmanuel Steward.

Go re-read the OP. It says, specifically, Kronk fighters and "not just guys who were trained by Steward" or guys who sparred or worked out there.

Thanks. Good catch. Like you said, probably moved to Kronk to further his career.

That's not true. Andy Lee was a Kronk fighter since his pro debut until Emanuel Steward's death. He moved his entire family from Ireland to Michigan after signing with Kronk before his pro debut. His pro debut was at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. He was Kronk's TOP FIGHTER during its final years. Steward said Andy Lee had assumed the role Hearns used to have as the top guy in the gym. When I saw Lee fight in Chicago against Alex Bunema in 2011, the ENTIRE Kronk family showed up to support him. In addition to Emanuel Steward and a mess of young fighters, Milton McCrory, smoking cigars, was even there taking photos with fans.

Andy Lee was actually Kronk's LAST champ. Lee dedicated his win over Korobov to his deceased trainer, Emanuel Steward.

There were a lot of guys mentioned here who I wouldn't list as Kronk fighters.

When I think of Kronk, I think of guys like Tommy Hearns, Hilmer Kenty, Duane Thomas, Leeonzer Barber, Gerald McClellan, Oba Carr, Andy Lee, Michael Moorer (as a light heavy champ up until the Alex Stewart fight), and lesser lights like Anthony "Baby" Jones and Mickey Goodwin.

Steward trained guys like Lennox Lewis and Wlad Klitschko and even Oliver McCall, but I don't see them as Kronk fighters because they were already established fighters. i do consider Moorer a Kronk fighter, because he lived with Steward when he was a teen, he turned pro and became a champ under Steward and he didn't leave Steward until he (Moorer) got lazy and didn't want to train hard.

Same with McClellan. McClellan was a Kronk fighter until, I believe, his very last fight with Benn. Either way, he was an established champ when he finally broke with him. But Steward took him to the top.
